Women of World Music featuring Kiran Ahluwalia, Ndidi Onukwulu & Tagaq

Three amazing vocalists bring the world to your doorstep in an evening full of world rhythms.  Kiran Ahluwalia brings the sweet sounds of ghazals and Punjabi folk music from the lands of India and Pakistan.  Ndidi Onukwulu is foremost a blues singer with a seductive tone reminiscent of Billie Holiday, her Nigerian heritage can slightly be heard in the funky rhythms, but her soul and voice is straight ahead American blues!  Tagaq in six short years has become a force in bringing the ancient art Inuit Inuk throat singing into the mainstream collaborating with Bjork and the Kronos Quartet.

 

Les Boreades: Beatles Baroque

Using period instruments from the Baroque era and adhering to the rules of performance practice and playing of the past, Montreal's Les Boreades have created a unique ensemble.  Add the fantastic song writing and arranging of the Beatles catalogue and listen to some of your favourite music come alive again in a different way! 

 

Los Pinguos

They came to the US from cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a mixture of Latin rhythms, performed with Spanish guitars, a Cuban Tres, Peruvian cajón (box-drum) and harmonizing vocals. Vivacious and infectious, the sound of Los Pinguos has claimed fans worldwide, from their hometown to the streets of Los Angeles.
